Healing Sounds of Qigong

Don't get me wrong, I love summer for the beach, the weather and the slower pace, but with the kids being out of school, adding in a new camp routine, a vacation and juggling summer activities, all the while still trying to balance work and running a business, I need a little help when I get overwhelmed


I thought I'd share this breathing technique that I have found helpful called The Healing Sounds of Qigong (pronounced "Chee Gong"). Qigong is the art and science of using breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate your body's energy (or qi). In my meditation studies, I have found that a qigong practice leads to better health, vitality and a more tranquil state of mind. Who doesn't want THAT?


To practice this technique, breathe in slowly through your nose and as you slowly exhale through your mouth, make one the sounds from the chart below to release difficult emotions and replace them with more positive ones. 


If you are having a negative feeling, look at the Emotion Released column and try to make that sound on your exhale. If you are feeling good and want to boost a positive emotion, refer to the Improved Emotion column.

Each one of these emotions is tied to an organ in your body. By using these breathing techniques, you can clear blocked energy in these organs. For example, sometimes if you are feeling anxious and you just don't know why, it could be related to your body's need to detoxify your spleen. By using these slow sounds when doing some deep breathing, you can strengthen these organs and clear out the emotions to be replaced with strong positive ones.
